The study or science of drugs. In another word ""It is the science and art of drug and drug treatment of diseases"". The mechanism of their effects on the body (pharmacodynamics) and the effect of the body on them (pharmacokinetics - AADME).

Any chemical that affects (Clinically observed or not) the processes of a living organism (biochemical and/ physiological) either in health or patho-physiological conditions.
Drug properties
It could be simple molecule or complex one.
It could be organic or inorganic one.
It could has a direct or indirect effect (physico-chemical properties).
It could be natural (plant or animal derivative, synthetic (man made), semi-synthetic and genetically engineered.
It should act at low concentrations.
It should act with high specificity



Pharmaco-ceutics: The study of how various drug forms influence pharmaco-kinetic and pharmacodynamic activities.
Pharmacogenetics: manipulation of genes or genes derivative in the treatment of diseases.
Pharmaco-economic: Assessment of treatment cost of a disease either it is for an individual patient or public treatment.
Pharmacokinetics: The study of what the body does to the drug:

The mechanism of drug actions in living tissues
Pharmacotherapeutics
The use of drugs and the clinical indications of drugs to prevent and treat diseases. Using of instrumentations can be listed under this area such as pace makers, implanted hormones pumps, gamma sources for radiological treatments.
Pharmacognosy
The study of natural (plant and animal) drug sources.
Their chemistry, chemical classes, isolation and purification. In addition to manipulation of plant genes to modify their quantity of production.

Drug Monitoring: Assessments of therapeutic drug levels in blood plasma. Applications of different kinetic models and statistical methods. Used in mostly for certain drugs which have a high level of toxicity such as anti-cancer drugs, etc.
