Immunity, which refers to all the mechanisms used by the body as
protection against environmental agents that are foreign to the body.
Innate and Adaptive Immunity:
Innate immunity is conferred by all those elements with which an
individual is born and that are always present and available at very short
notice to protect the individual from challenges by foreign invaders.
Adaptive immunity is the generation of antigen-specific lymphocytes
(effector cells) and memory cells that can prevent reinfection with the same
organism.
The immune response beginning with elements of the innate immune
system followed by the adaptive immune system. The interrelationship of
these two arms of our immune system is hematopoietic precursor, the
pluripotential stem cell. Cells of the innate immune system derive from
myeloid precursors whereas cells associated with the adaptive immune
system are derived from common lymphoid precursors
